If you’re unhappy with the appearance of your Squarespace site, or if you simply want to try out a different template, you can change your site’s template at any time. Here’s how:

  1. Log in to your Squarespace account and go to Settings.
  2. Under Site Management, click Templates.
  3. Click the thumbnail of the template you want to use.
  4. Tip: To preview a template, hover over its thumbnail and click Preview. This will open a new tab with a preview of your site using that template.
  5. Note: You can also browse for templates by clicking Filter Templates. This will let you narrow down the selection by category, features, and more.
  6. Note: If you’ve already customized your current template, you’ll see a message asking if you want to keep your current content or replace it with content from the new template. If you want to keep your current content, click Keep. Otherwise, click Replace.

If you have multiple pages on your site, you’ll be asked to map them to pages in the new template. For more information, visit Mapping Pages to Templates.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with coding or working with templates, then it is best to avoid changing the template on an existing Squarespace site. Doing so could result in problems with the site’s functionality or appearance. If you are unsure about how to make the changes you want, it is best to consult with a Squarespace expert or customer support.

If you’re switching from the Bedford family of templates to another family, we recommend reviewing our guide on Switching Template Families.

Once you’ve chosen a new template, click Apply. Your changes will save automatically.

    Conclusion:
Changing the template on an existing Squarespace site is easy to do and only takes a few minutes. Simply log into your account, go to Settings > Site Management > Templates, and choose the new template you want to use. Be sure to review our guides on switching template families and mapping pages to templates if you need help along the way.
