PRO TIP: If you are working on a design in Figma and need to convert a frame back into a component, be aware that this will break any links to that component. Other designers working on the same file will need to relink the component if they want to use it in their designs.

If you’re working on a design in Figma and you want to convert a component back to a frame, there are a few steps you need to take. First, select the component that you want to convert.

NOTE: A component in Figma is indicated by a violet or purple outline or bounding box surrounding the element.

Then, right-click on the component and select “Frame selection” from the options that will appear.

NOTE: You can also use the keyboard shortcut “Ctrl+Alt+G” to convert the component back to a frame.

Once you’ve completed these steps, your frame will be converted back into a frame.

NOTE: If you need to further edit the component, you can do so by clicking the “Create component” option at the top menu.

That’s all there is to it! Converting a component back into a frame is a quick and easy way to make changes to your design. By following the steps outlined above, you can ensure that your design is always up-to-date and accurate.
