How Do I Convert Illustrator to Figma?

Last updated on September 29, 2022 @ 10:03 am

There are many ways to convert an Adobe Illustrator document into a Figma file. The most common is to use the “File > Export > Export As” function in Illustrator, and then select “Figma” as the file type. This will create a new Figma file with all of the layers and vector data from your Illustrator file intact.

PRO TIP: If you are considering converting your Adobe Illustrator designs into Figma, there are a few things you should be aware of. First and foremost, Figma uses vector networks, whereas Illustrator uses Bezier curves. This means that your design will likely need to be redrawn in Figma. Additionally, Figma supports a limited set of file formats, so you may need to export your Illustrator design as a PNG or JPEG before importing it into Figma.

Another method is to use the “File > Save As” function in Illustrator, and then select “Figma” as the file type. This will save your existing Illustrator file as a Figma file, which can be opened and edited in Figma.

If you have an existing Photoshop or Sketch file that you want to convert into a Figma file, you can use the “File > Open” function in Figma and select the Photoshop or Sketch file. Figma will automatically convert the file into a Figma file.
