How Do I Copy a Component in Figma?

Last updated on November 27, 2022 @ 6:18 pm

There are two ways to copy a component in Figma. The first is to use the Duplicate command, which can be found in the right-click menu or by pressing Ctrl/Cmd + D. This will create an exact copy of the component, including any children.

The second way to copy a component is to use the Copy as HTML command, which can be found in the right-click menu. This will copy the component as HTML, including any children, and can be pasted into an HTML file.

To style text in HTML using tags, you will need to use the < p >,< b > and < u > tags where applicable. The

tag is used for paragraphs, the < b > tag is used for bold text, and the < u > tag is used for underlined text.

PRO TIP: If you are looking to copy a component in Figma, be warned that this can be a tricky process. There is no “copy” button for components, so you will need to use the Duplicate command. This will create a copy of the component, but it will not retain any of the original styling. You will need to manually style the duplicated component to match the original.
