How do I create a box template in Illustrator?

Creating a box template in Illustrator is easy. Open the Illustrator file you want to create the template in, and then choose File > New > Box.

In the New Box dialog box, provide the name of the template, and then click OK.

The template will open in Illustrator and you’ll see the basic box shape. To customize the template, first select the shape you want to customize.

Next, click the Edit Selected Box button (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+E). In the Edit Selected Box dialog box, you’ll see all the options for the selected shape.

To create a new box, click the New Box button, and then provide the name for the new box in the New Box dialog box. You can also enter a custom dimensions for the box in the Width and Height fields.

Click OK to create the box.

To add text or other objects to the box, first select the object you want to add to the box. Then, click the Edit Selected Object button (or use the keyboard shortcut Ctrl+E).

In the Edit Selected Object dialog box, you’ll see all the options for the selected object.

To add text to the box, click the Text button, and then enter the text you want to add to the box in the Text field. You can also add objects to the box using the Object buttons.

Click OK to close the Edit Selected Object dialog box and add the text or object to the box.

PRO TIP: When creating a box template in Illustrator, be sure to create a Bleed Box and allow for adequate bleed margin. Otherwise, your template may not print correctly.

To add a border to the box, click the Borders button, and then click the type of border you want to add to the box in the Border Type field.

Click OK to close the Edit Selected Object dialog box and add the border or objects to the box.

To add a frame to the box, click the Frame button, and then click the type of frame you want to add to the box in the Frame Type field.

Click OK to close the Edit Selected Object dialog box and add the frame or objects to the box.

To add a shadow to the box, click the Shadow button, and then click the type of shadow you want to add to the box in the Shadow Type field.

Click OK to close the Edit Selected Object dialog box and add the shadow or objects to the box.

To add a gradient to the box, click the Gradient button, and then click the type of gradient you want to add to the box in the Gradient Type field.

Click OK to close the Edit Selected Object dialog box and add the gradient or objects to the box.

To add a color to the box, click the Color button, and then click the color you want to add to the box in the Color field.

Click OK to close the Edit Selected Object dialog box and add the color or objects to the box.
