A shortcode is a small piece of code, enclosed in square brackets [ ], that you can insert into a post or page on your WordPress site. Shortcodes can perform different functions, such as displaying a gallery, forms, content blocks, and other elements on your site.
In WooCommerce, shortcodes are used to display products, categories, Cart, Checkout, and My Account pages. There are also some WooCommerce shortcodes available for use in third-party plugins and themes.
Shortcodes can be inserted into posts and pages via the WordPress editor or by using a shortcode block in the Gutenberg editor. In this article, we will show you how to create a custom WooCommerce shortcode.
Creating a Custom WooCommerce Shortcode
First thing you need to do is install and activate the Shortcodes Ultimate plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.
Upon activation, you need to visit Settings » Shortcodes Ultimate page to configure plugin settings. On the plugin settings page, you need to select the post types where you want to enable shortcodes.
Don’t forget to click on the Save Changes button to store your settings.
Adding Shortcode in WordPress Posts and Pages
You can now add shortcodes in your posts and pages just like you add images and other media files. Simply edit the post or page where you want to add the shortcode. On the post editor screen, click on the Add Media button above the post editor.
