In the Flames dialog box, set the Flame Type to 1, the Shapeto 2, the Sizeto 3, the Density(the number of flames)to 4(more),(how thick they are)(how close together they are), (how spread out they are)and finally,(how intense they are).(This will give you weak flames.)
(For strong flames,)go back into “Hue/Saturation”and adjust only “Hue”this time; experiment with different numbers until you get a color you like.
(Then return “Hue”back its original number.)“Filter”again. “Render”and then”Lens Flare.
“(For where you want your light source. )Play with different settings until you get something you like; I used “50-300mm Zoom”at 100%brightness with “Position”set at “123.“Click okay when done.
(You should have a nice light source for your flames now.)
Finally:“Layer”once more. “New Adjustment Layer. “Click “Gradient Map”and choose any color gradient you like; I went with “Black & White”(2nd one down)…”Adjustment Layer Options”will pop up; check “Reverse”and hit okay. (A gradient bar will appear at the bottom of your Layers Palette.
)Now hold down “Option/Alt”key and click-and-drag that gradient bar right above your “Flames”layer in your Layers Palette. (A small arrow should appear pointing downwards when in correct position. )Release mouse button/key when done. (This will give your flames more of an ‘eerie’ look.)
And that’s it! You should now have a nice-looking flame effect!
