How Do I Create a Free Subscription to WooCommerce?

To create a free subscription to WooCommerce, first sign up for a free account on the official website. Then, navigate to the ‘My Account’ page and click on the ‘Create a Subscription’ button.

Fill out the required information and select the free subscription plan. Finally, click on the ‘Subscribe’ button and your subscription will be created!

Assuming you have a WooCommerce store set up (if not, check out this handy guide), setting up a subscription product is easy.

  1. From your WordPress dashboard, go to WooCommerce > Products. Then select Add Product
  2. Give your product a name and choose whether it’s a physical or virtual product.

    If you want to offer a subscription, tick the Enable this setting to allow customers to subscribe to this product

  3. Subscription period: Select how often subscribers will receive the product — weekly, monthly etc. You can also specify whether they’ll be charged per period or in advance.
  4. Free trial period: If you want to offer a free trial, enter the number of days here. For example, if someone signs up for a monthly subscription with a 14-day free trial, they’ll have 14 days before their first payment is taken.
  5. Sign-up fee: This is an optional one-time fee charged when someone first subscribes.
  6. Regular price: Set the price you want subscribers to pay per period.
  7. Sale price: If you want to offer a discount for signing up, enter that price here.

    : If you have digital products on your site that you only want people with an active subscription to have access too, then tick this box.

  1. Stock management at product level?

    : This option appears if you are selling physical products with subscriptions and are using WooCommerce inventory management.
    → If yes: Leave this option checked so that each variation of the product has its own inventory.
    → If no: Tick this box if you don’t want WooCommerce to track inventory for each variation of your product individually; instead it will track inventory for all variations as one stock.

    : This option appears if you are selling physical products with subscriptions.
    – Choose how you will ship this product from the dropdown menu.
    – The shipping methods available will depend on the ones you have set up in WooCommerce.
