Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 5:32 pm

If you’re running a WooCommerce store, you’ll need a payment gateway to accept payments from your customers. In this article, we’ll show you how to create a payment gateway in WooCommerce.

First, you’ll need to install and activate the WooCommerce plugin. For more information on how to do this, please see our article on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Once the plugin is activated, you’ll need to go to WooCommerce > Settings > Payments to set up your payment gateway.

PRO TIP: This article contains outdated information about WooCommerce payment gateway development. It may contain security vulnerabilities or other bugs. Development on WooCommerce payment gateways has changed significantly since this article was written, so it is no longer accurate. For up-to-date information on developing WooCommerce payment gateways, please see the following resources:

-WooCommerce Payment Gateway Developer Documentation: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/payment-gateway-api/

-WooCommerce Payment Gateway developer blog: https://woocommerce.com/blog/category/developers/payment-gateways/

If you are not a developer, we recommend that you do not attempt to create a payment gateway for WooCommerce yourself. Instead, we recommend that you contact a professional WooCommerce development company to assist you.

There are many different payment gateways available for WooCommerce, so you’ll need to choose the one that’s right for your business. We recommend using PayPal or Stripe, as they are the most popular and easiest to set up.

Once you’ve chosen your payment gateway, you’ll need to follow the instructions on how to set it up. This will usually involve creating an account with the payment gateway and getting a API key.

After you’ve set up your payment gateway, you’re ready to start accepting payments from your customers!
