How Do I Create a Script in Shopify?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:19 pm

There are two ways to create a script in Shopify. The first is to use the built-in script editor, and the second is to use a third-party script editor.

If you want to use the built-in script editor, you first need to create a new file in your Shopify theme. To do this, go to “Shopify Admin”, and then click “Online Store”.

Next, click “Themes”, and then click the “..” button next to the theme you want to edit. Finally, click “Edit code”.

In the file editor, click “Add a new asset”, and then select “Create a new asset”. In the “Asset type” drop-down menu, select “Script”, and then enter a name for your script in the “Name” field. For example, you could name your script “myscript.js”.

Once you’ve created your new file, you can start adding code to it. To do this, simply click on the file in the file editor, and then start typing or pasting your code into it. When you’re done, click “Save”.

PRO TIP: If you are not a Shopify Partner, you will not be able to create a script in Shopify. If you attempt to do so, you will be redirected to the Partner sign-up page.

If you want to use a third-party script editor, you can install one of the many available plugins. For example, you could install the Atom plugin.

Once you’ve installed the plugin, open it and create a new file. In the “Grammar” drop-down menu, select “JavaScript”.

Now that you have a new file open in your script editor, you can start adding code to it. Simply start typing or pasting your code into the file. When you’re done, save your changes by clicking “File” > “Save”.

No matter which method you use to create your script, be sure to test it before publishing it on your live site. This will help ensure that there are no errors in your code that could cause problems for your customers.

Creating a script in Shopify is simple and easy – whether you use the built-in script editor or a third-party script editor. Just be sure to test your code before publishing it live!
