How Do I Create a Subscription on Squarespace?

Last updated on December 24, 2022 @ 2:14 pm

There are two types of subscription boxes you can create with Squarespace:

1. Recurring orders

With recurring orders, customers can sign up to receive automatic shipments of products on a schedule that you specify. For example, a customer could subscribe to receive a shipment of coffee beans every month.

To set up recurring orders:

    1. Log in to your site’s Home Menu, and then click Commerce.

    2. In the Orders section, click Recurring Orders. If you don’t see this option, click More, and then select Recurring Orders.

Note: If you’re using the 7.0 version of Squarespace Commerce, visit Setting up automatic payments for more information about setting up recurring orders.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that creating a subscription on Squarespace can be a complex process. If you are not familiar with Squarespace or comfortable working with code, we recommend working with a professional to set up your subscription.
    3. Click the Subscribe button next to the product you want customers to be able to subscribe to.
    4. Set the frequency for shipments and how long customers should receive shipments.
    5. Set whether customers should be charged immediately or at the time of each shipment.
    6. Click Save.

After you complete these steps, customers will be able to subscribe to automatic shipments of this product from its product page on your site.
You can also offer subscription products as part of a promotion or bundle them with other products using Product Bundles.

Pay-per-view content
Pay-per-view content is content that’s available for purchase, but isn’t part of a physical product, like an ebook, video course, or audio file. Customers can purchase access to this content on your site and view it as many times as they’d like for a set period of time that you specify.
For example, you could sell access to a video tutorial that’s available for viewing for 30 days after purchase. Or, if you have an online course with multiple lessons, you could sell access to the entire course, or just one lesson at a time.
You can also use our Members Area feature to create a members-only section on your site where pay-per-view content is available.
