How Do I Create Categories and Subcategories in WooCommerce?

When it comes to setting up an online store, one of the first things you need to do is create categories and subcategories for your products. This will help potential customers find what they’re looking for more easily, and it will also help you keep your inventory organized. Luckily, WooCommerce makes it easy to create both categories and subcategories.

To create a category in WooCommerce, simply go to Products > Categories in your WordPress dashboard. From there, you can add a new category by filling out the fields under “Add New Category.”

Be sure to give your category a name, and then you can also add a description and image if you want. Once you’re finished, click “Add New Category.”

PRO TIP: When creating categories and subcategories in WooCommerce, be sure to organize your products in a way that makes sense for your business. For example, if you sell clothes, you might want to create a category for each type of clothing, such as shirts, pants, and dresses. Within each of those categories, you can then create subcategories for different styles or colors.

Now that you’ve created a category, it’s time to add some products to it. To do this, go to Products > All Products in your dashboard. From there, find the product you want to add to a category and click on it.

On the product page, scroll down to the “Product Data” section and find the “Categories” drop-down menu. Here, you can select the category or categories that you want the product to be listed under. Once you’ve made your selection, be sure to click “Update” at the top of the page.

If you want to create a subcategory, simply repeat the steps above but select a parent category from the “Parent Category” drop-down menu instead of leaving it set to “None.” That’s all there is to it! By taking the time to set up categories and subcategories for your products, you can make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for on your website.

Creating categories and subcategories in WooCommerce is simple and easy to do. By taking the time to set up these organisation tools early on, you can make life much easier for both yourself when managing inventory and customers when trying to find specific products on your website.
