How Do I Crop a Selection in Photoshop?

Last updated on April 19, 2023 @ 8:01 am

To crop a selection in Photoshop, first, make a selection of the area you want to crop by selecting a layer from the Layers window.

Once the selection is made, go to the left toolbar and select the Crop icon. Alternatively, you can use the keyboard shortcut “C” to do this.

When you select the Crop icon, Photoshop will bring up the Crop Tool, which looks like white handles around the image you selected. You can use this tool to drag the corners or sides of the selection to adjust what part of the image is being cropped.

Once you’re happy with the selection, press Enter or Return on your keyboard to crop the image. You can also click on the check icon in the top menu. If you decide you don’t want to crop after all, press Esc.

Your selection in Photoshop is now cropped!

PRO TIP: Be careful when cropping a selection in Photoshop as it can result in the loss of important information from the image.
