Are you looking to set up shipping for your WooCommerce store? Whether you’re just starting out, or you’ve been in business for awhile, it’s important to get shipping set up correctly from the beginning.
In this article, we’ll cover how to customize shipping in WooCommerce so that you can get your products to your customers as quickly and efficiently as possible.
When you first set up your WooCommerce store, there are a few default shipping options that are automatically enabled. These include Flat Rate, Free Shipping, and Local Pickup.
While these options may work for some stores, they may not be ideal for others. Luckily, WooCommerce makes it easy to customize shipping to better suit your needs.
There are two ways to customize shipping in WooCommerce: through the Shipping Zones feature, or by using Shipping Classes. Shipping Zones allow you to set up specific shipping rules for different geographical areas. Shipping Classes let you group similar products together and apply specific shipping rules to those products.
Both Shipping Zones and Shipping Classes can be found under WooCommerce > Settings > Shipping. Let’s take a closer look at each of these features so that you can decide which is best for your store.
Shipping Zones
As we mentioned before, Shipping Zones allow you to set up different shipping rules for different geographical areas. This is a great option if you want to offer different shipping rates or methods depending on where your customers are located.
To get started, first add a new zone by clicking on the “+ Add Zone” button. Then, give your zone a name and select the region(s) that you want to include in that zone. Once you’ve done that, click on the “Save changes” button at the bottom of the page.
Now that you’ve created a zone, it’s time to add some shipping methods. To do this, hover over the zone that you want to add a method to and click on the “+ Add Shipping Method” button.
A pop-up window will appear with a list of available shipping methods. Select the one that you want to add and click on the “Add” button.
You can repeat this process for each zone that you want to add a shipping method to. When you’re finished, click on the “Save changes” button at the bottom of the page.
Shipping Classes
Shipping Classes, on the other hand, allow you to group similar products together and apply specific shipping rules to those products.
To get started, first add a new class. To do this, click on the “+ Add Shipping Class” button.
Give your class a name and a description (optional), then click on the “Save changes” button.
Now that you’ve created a class, it’s time to add some products to it. To do this, go to WooCommerce > Products > All Products.
Hover over the product that you want to add to a class and click on the “Edit” link.
On the Edit Product page, scroll down to the “Shipping” section.
Under “Shipping Class”, select the class that you want to add the product to from the drop-down menu.
When you’re finished making changes, click onthe “Update” button.
