How Do I Disable Checkout Fields in WooCommerce?

Last updated on January 14, 2023 @ 9:23 am

WooCommerce is a great eCommerce platform for small businesses, but one of its drawbacks is that it can be difficult to customize the checkout process. By default, WooCommerce includes a lot of fields in the checkout form, which can be confusing for customers and lead to abandoned carts.

In this article, we’ll show you how to disable checkout fields in WooCommerce so you can streamline the checkout process for your customers.

We’ll cover two methods:

  • Disabling fields using the WooCommerce Customizer
  • Disabling fields using a plugin

Let’s get started!

Method 1: Disable Checkout Fields in WooCommerce Using the Customizer

WooCommerce includes a built-in setting that allows you to disable certain fields on the checkout page. To access this setting, go to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced > Checkout. On the Checkout page, you’ll see a list of all the fields that can be disabled.

To disable a field, simply check the box next to it. Once you’re done, click on the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.

Method 2: Disable Checkout Fields in WooCommerce Using a Plugin

If you don’t want to use the Customizer method, then you can also use a plugin to disable checkout fields in WooCommerce.

We recommend using the “WooCommerce Checkout Field Editor” plugin. It’s available for free from the WordPress plugin repository.

PRO TIP: If you are thinking about disabling checkout fields in WooCommerce, be aware that this could have unintended consequences. For example, if you disable the “billing_email” field, customers will not be able to enter their email address during checkout. This could lead to abandoned carts and other issues.

Once you’ve installed and activated the plugin, go to WooCommerce > Checkout Fields. On this page, you’ll see all the default fields that are included in WooCommerce
