How Do I Download the Figma Update?

Last updated on December 1, 2022 @ 1:08 pm

Figma is a vector graphics editor and prototyping tool – the first of its kind built entirely in the browser. Today, we’re announcing a new Figma update that includes some great new features and improvements!

How do I download the Figma update?

To update Figma to the latest version, simply head over to the Figma website and sign in. Once you’re signed in, click on your profile picture in the top right-hand corner and select “Check for Updates” from the drop-down menu. Figma will automatically check for updates and prompt you to restart your browser to apply the changes.

PRO TIP: If you are not sure how to update Figma, we recommend that you contact the Figma support team for help. Updating Figma can be tricky and if done incorrectly, could result in lost data or other problems.

What’s new in this update?

In addition to some general improvements and bug fixes, here are some of the highlights from this update:

  • New Layer Types: We’ve added two new layer types – Group Layers and Frame Layers. Group Layers work just like they do in other vector graphic editors, allowing you to group multiple layers together. Frame Layers are similar to Artboards in Sketch, allowing you to define a set area for your design.
  • Improved Text Editing: We’ve made some improvements to the way text is edited in Figma. You can now use keyboard shortcuts to apply Bold, Italic, Underline, and Strikethrough formatting to your text. In addition, we’ve added support for Spell Check so you can catch any typos before sharing your designs.
  • New Export Options: We’ve added some new export options that will be available when you click on the “Export” button in the top bar. You can now export your designs as PNG or JPG images, SVG files, or PDF documents.
