How Do I Drag and Drop an Image Into Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 3:29 pm

There are a few different ways to add images into Photoshop. One way is to simply drag and drop the image file from your computer’s file explorer window into the Photoshop window. Another way is to go to File > Open and select the image file from there.

Once the image is open in Photoshop, you can drag and drop it into another Photoshop document or layer. To do this, make sure the Move tool is selected from the Tools palette (it’s the top tool).

Then click on the image and drag it over to the other document or layer. When you let go of the mouse button, the image will be added in.

PRO TIP: When dragging and dropping an image into Photoshop, be careful not to accidentally move or delete the image file. If you do, the image will no longer be available in Photoshop.

If you want to add text to your image, you can do so by creating a new text layer. To do this, go to Layer > New > Layer via Copy (or Layer > Duplicate Layer if you want to keep the original image intact). A new layer will be created with your image on it.

Now select the Type tool from the Tools palette (it’s under the Horizontal Type tool) and click somewhere on your image. A text box will appear and you can start typing away.

To change the font or color of your text, go to the Character palette (Window > Character). From here you can also change things like tracking, leading, and kerning.

When you’re finished adding text, you can save your work by going to File > Save As.
