How Do I Drag and Resize Canvas in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 12:57 am

There are two ways to resize the canvas in Photoshop. The first is to use the “Canvas Size” command under the “Image” menu. With this method, you can specify the new width and height of the canvas, as well as the anchor point, which is the reference point used for resizing.

The second way to resize the canvas is to use the “Crop” tool. With this method, you can click and drag on the canvas to specify the new size. You can also use the “Shift” key to constrain the aspect ratio while resizing.

To resize the canvas using the “Canvas Size” command:

1. Select the “Canvas Size” command from the “Image” menu. 2. Enter the desired width and height in the appropriate fields.

3. Choose an anchor point from the drop-down menu. This is the reference point that will be used for resizing. 4. Click “OK” to resize the canvas.

To resize the canvas using the “Crop” tool:

1. Select the “Crop” tool from the toolbar. Click and drag on the canvas to specify the new size. Use the “Shift” key to constrain proportions if desired. Click “Enter” or “Return” to confirm the crop area and resize the canvas accordingly.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with Photoshop, please be aware that ‘drag and resize canvas’ is a potentially destructive operation. Always make a backup copy of your image before attempting this technique.
