If you’re running a WooCommerce store, there’s a good chance you’ll want to use categories to help organize your products. Categories can make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for, and they can also help you keep track of your inventory. Fortunately, enabling categories in WooCommerce is a relatively simple process.
First, log into your WordPress dashboard and navigate to WooCommerce > Settings. On the General tab, scroll down to the Product Data section.
You should see a checkbox labeled “Enable product categories”. Check that box and then click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page.
Now that you’ve enabled product categories, you can start creating them. To do so, go to WooCommerce > Products > Categories. Here, you’ll see a list of any existing categories as well as a form where you can add a new category.
Start by entering a name for your category in the “Name” field. Then, if you want, you can add a description in the “Description” field.
Next, choose a “Parent Category” from the dropdown menu. This will determine where your new category falls in the hierarchy of your existing categories.
Once you’ve filled out the form, click “Add New Category”. Your new category will now be visible on the front-end of your store.
Enabling product categories in WooCommerce is a quick and easy process that can make it easier for customers to find what they’re looking for on your site. Follow the steps above to get started.
