How do I enable SSL GoDaddy?

Last updated on December 18, 2022 @ 1:36 pm

If you are looking to improve the security of your online presence, then you should consider using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) certificates from GoDaddy. SSL is a security protocol that encrypts your data as it travels between your computer and the website.

This helps to protect your information from being intercepted by third parties.

To enable SSL on your GoDaddy account:

1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.

2. Click the “Website Security” link in the navigation bar at the top of the page.

3. Under “SSL/TLS Certificates,” click the “Add a New Certificate” button.

4. On the “Add a New Certificate” screen, click the “Browse” button.

5. On the “Browse” screen, locate and click the “SSL/TLS Certificate” file that you want to use.

6. On the “SSL/TLS Certificate” screen, click the “Upload” button.

7. On the “Upload” screen, click the “Finish” button.

8. Click the “SSL/TLS Certificate” button to view the “SSL/TLS Certificate Details” screen.

9. Under “SSL/TLS Certificate Details,” click the “Enable” button.

10. Under “Security Level,” click the “SSL (TLS)” button.

11. Under “Activation Type,” click the “Digital Signature” button.

12. Under “Signature Algorithm,” click the “SHA256” button.

13. Under “Validity Period,” click the “30 Days” button.

14. Under “Server Name,” enter the “server name” of the website that you want to use the certificate on.

15. Under “Server Address,” enter the “server address” of the website that you want to use the certificate on.

16. Enter the “certificate key name” and “certificate key file” values that you received when you created the certificate.

17. Click the “Save” button.

18. Under “SSL/TLS Certificate Details,” click the “Publish” button.

19. Click the “Publish” button.

20. Under “SSL/TLS Certificate Details,” click the “Delete” button.

21. Under “SSL/TLS Certificate Details,” click the “Close” button.

22. Under “SSL/TLS Certificate Details,” click the “Refresh” button.

23. If the “SSL/TLS Certificate” screen shows the “Certificate is valid” message, your certificate is now enabled.

24. If the “SSL/TLS Certificate” screen shows the “Certificate is not valid” message, you will need to correct any errors that were detected and then click the “Refresh” button.

25. Under “SSL/TLS Certificate Details,” click the “Close”.

PRO TIP: If you enable SSL on your GoDaddy account, your data will be encrypted and more secure. However, this also means that your site will take longer to load, and you may experience other issues such as decreased performance.
