How Do I End a Contract With UpWork as a Client?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 10:53 pm

When you’re ready to end a contract with a client on UpWork, the first step is to go to the My Jobs tab and click the End Contract button next to the contract you want to end. You’ll be asked to confirm that you want to end the contract. Once you click Confirm, the contract will be ended and the client will no longer have access to your workroom.

If you need to end a contract immediately and the client is unresponsive, you can click the End Contract button on behalf of the client.

PRO TIP: If you are considering ending a contract with Upwork as a client, please be aware that this may result in Upwork suspending your account. Upwork may also take other measures, such as removing your account from the site, if it believes that you have breached its terms of service.

Once a contract is ended, you and the client will have 14 days to leave feedback for each other. After 14 days, feedback will no longer be possible.

Ending a contract is a big decision. If you have any questions about whether or not it’s the right thing to do, we encourage you to reach out to our support team for assistance.
