Wix is a popular website builder that allows you to create a website without having to code. However, if you want to move your Wix site to WordPress, you will need to export your Wix site and import it into WordPress.

In this article, we will show you how to export your Wix site and import it into WordPress.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

If you have a Wix site and want to move it to WordPress, the first thing you need to do is export your Wix site. To do this, go to your Wix account and click on the site you want to export. Then, click on the Export Site button in the bottom left corner of the screen.

Once you have clicked on the Export Site button, a pop-up window will appear asking you if you want to export your entire site or just certain pages. If you want to export your entire site, click on the Export Entire Site button. If you just want to export certain pages, click on the Export Selected Pages button and then select the pages you want to export.

After you have selected what you want to export, click on the Export Site button at the bottom of the pop-up window. This will start the exporting process and may take a few minutes depending on the size of your site.

Once your site has been exported, you will be able to download it as a ZIP file. This ZIP file will contain all of your website’s files and can be imported into WordPress.

PRO TIP: If you are considering exporting your Wix website to WordPress, be aware that this process is not without its risks. There is a chance that your website could break during the export process, or that the resulting WordPress site may not look exactly as you intended. Proceed with caution and backup your website before beginning the export process.

Now that you have exported your Wix site, it’s time to import it into WordPress. To do this, firstly install and activate the FG Joomla to WordPress plugin. For more details, see our step by step guide on how to install a WordPress plugin.

Upon activation, go to Tools » Import in your WordPress admin area and click on the ‘Install Now’ link under Joomla 1.5 or 2.5 option depending on which version of Joomla your Wix site was using.

Note: If you get an error while installing the plugin, then make sure that your hosting environment meets all WordPress requirements. For example, some shared hosting providers do not allow installing plugins via FTP.

After installing and activating the plugin, click on its ‘Import’ tab and then select ‘Wix’ from ‘From platform’ dropdown menu.

Note: If you are moving from self-hosted WordPress.com, then first follow our guide on how to move from WordPress.com. After that come back here for instructions on how to move from self hosted WordPress.

Now select ‘Wix’ again from ‘To platform’ dropdown menu. On this page, select whether you want to import media files or not. If yes then check both boxes under ‘Media options’ section. After that click on ‘Start Importing…’ button at bottom. The plugin will now start importing content from Wix into WordPress.

Depending upon number of posts and pages it can take anywhere from few seconds up several minutes.
Once it is done importing content into WordPress, it will show ‘All done!
