How Do I Find My DNS Records Squarespace?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 8:55 am

If you’re using Squarespace, you can find your DNS records by logging into your account and going to the Domains tab. From there, click on the domain name you want to view the DNS records for, and then click on the DNS Records tab.

DNS records are stored in what are called zone files. Zone files are essentially a database of all the DNS records for a given domain. When you make a change to your DNS records, that change is reflected in the zone file.

There are several types of DNS records, but the most common ones are A, CNAME, and MX records.

A Records
An A record is a DNS record that maps a domain or subdomain to an IP address. A records are used to point a domain or subdomain to an IP address. For example, you can use an A record to map example.com to 1.2.3.4.

CNAME Records
A CNAME record is a type of DNS record that maps a canonical name to an alias. A CNAME record is used to create an alias for a canonical name. For example, you could use a CNAME record to map www.example.com to example.com.

MX Records
An MX record is a type of DNS record that specifies an email server for a domain or subdomain. MX records are used to route email for a domain or subdomain. For example, you could use an MX record to route email for example.4

PRO TIP: If you are trying to find your DNS records on Squarespace, be aware that this is not possible. Squarespace does not allow access to DNS records. If you need to change your DNS records, you will need to do so through your domain registrar.
