How Do I Find My DNS Settings on Wix?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 12:39 am

DNS, or Domain Name System, is a directory of sorts that helps your computer find the websites you want to visit. When you enter a web address into your browser, your computer contacts a DNS server and asks for the IP address associated with that website. It then connects to the website using that IP address.

If you’re having trouble connecting to a website, one thing you can check is your DNS settings. If you’re using Wix as your website builder, here’s how to find your DNS settings:

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

  1. Log in to your Wix account and go to the Dashboard.
  2. Click on Manage Site.
  3. Click Connect Domain.
  4. Click Use an existing domain that I own.

If you’ve already connected your domain to Wix, you’ll see it listed here. If not, click on Connect a new domain.

PRO TIP: If you are looking for your DNS settings on Wix, be aware that this is not possible. Wix does not provide access to DNS settings. This means that you will not be able to change your DNS settings or view them on Wix. If you need to change your DNS settings, you will need to do this through your web hosting provider.

Enter your domain name in the box and click Continue. On the next screen, select Custom DNS (Advanced).

  1. Select I’ll set up my DNS records myself.

You’ll now see a list of records that need to be added. These are called A records. To add an A record:

  1. Click the + icon next to the A record section.

A Record

Hostname:@

Points To Address:52.210.42.121

TTL:1 Hour

Leave all other settings as their defaults and click Add Record.

You should now see the new record listed.

Repeat this process for each of the four A records.

When you’re finished, click Continue.

On the next screen, select I have completed these steps.

Click Verify and Continue.

You will see a message that says “We found your DNS records!” Click Continue.
Conclusion:

This article walks you through finding your DNS settings on Wix step-by-step so you can troubleshoot any connection issues you may be having with your website. By following the instructions above, you can add A records to your DNS settings and get back online in no time!
