If you’re anything like me, you’re always tweaking your designs, moving things around, and changing your mind. And that’s fine!

It’s part of the design process. But there comes a point where you have to ask yourself: “How do I get rid of all these variants in Figma? ”

First, let’s take a step back and understand what a variant is. In Figma, a variant is a version of an object that has different properties from the original.

For example, you might have a button that is blue in one variant and green in another. Or, you might have a text object that is bold in one variant and italicized in another.

There are two ways to create variants in Figma: manually or through the use of styles.

Manually: To create a variant manually, simply select the object (or group of objects) that you want to create a variant of and click the “Create Variant” button in the Inspector.

Styles: To create variants using styles, first select the object (or group of objects) that you want to create a style for. Then, click the “Create Style” button in the Inspector.

This will open up the Style Settings panel where you can specify which properties should be included in the style. Once you’ve done that, click the “Create Variant” button at the bottom of the panel.

Once you’ve created your variants, you can switch between them by clicking on the name of the variant in the Inspector. You can also edit them by clicking on the “Edit Variant” button in the Inspector.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, variants can easily get out of control in Figma. Here are a few tips to keep them in check:

1. Use a naming convention for your variants that makes sense to you and your team. This will help everyone keep track of the different versions.

2. Keep your variants organized in a way that makes sense to you. This could be by project, by feature, or whatever other system works for you.

3. Don’t be afraid to delete variants that you no longer need. This will help keep your project organized and tidy.

So how do you get rid of unwanted variants?

The answer is actually quite simple: just delete them! To do so, select the object (or group of objects) that contains the unwanted variants and click on the “Delete Variant” button in the Inspector.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, getting rid of variants in Figma is as easy as deleting them. Just select the object (or group of objects) that contains the unwanted variants and click on the “Delete Variant” button in the Inspector.
