How Do I Get SVG Files From Figma?

Last updated on December 1, 2022 @ 2:05 pm

As an vector-based graphics editor, Figma is a powerful tool for creating various types of graphics, including logos, illustrations, and user interfaces. While Figma supports various file formats for exporting graphics, the Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format is one of the most popular choices due to its small file size and support for multiple browsers and devices.

There are two ways to export SVG files from Figma:

  • Method 1: Select the object or objects you want to export as SVG, then click File > Export > Export Selection. In the Export dialog box that appears, select .svg from the drop-down menu next to Format, then click Export. The file will be saved to your chosen location.
  • Method 2: Click the Share button in the top-right corner of the Figma interface, then click Publish. In the Publish to the web dialog box that appears, select .svg from the drop-down menu next to Format, then click Publish.

Note:

When exporting as SVG, Figma supports a maximum canvas size of 100,000 x 100,000px. If you try to export an object larger than this, you’ll receive an error message.

PRO TIP: While it is possible to get SVG files from Figma, it is not recommended. Figma is a vector graphic design tool and as such, the SVG files it produces are not intended for use on the web. They may not display correctly in some browsers, and can cause issues with how the page renders.
