How Do I Go Back to History in Photoshop?

There are times when you may want to go back and view your history in Photoshop. Maybe you accidentally closed a file without saving or you want to see what edits you made to a certain image. Whatever the reason, here’s how to go back and view your history in Photoshop:

1.Open the History panel by going to Window > History.

2.In the History panel, you’ll see a list of all the steps you’ve taken in your current session of Photoshop. If you want to go back to a specific point, simply click on that step in the list.

3.If you want to see what your image looked like before you made any edits, click on the first step in the list (this will be labeled ” Opened ‘filename'”).

4.To view what your image looked like after a certain edit was made, hover your mouse over the edit in question and a small preview window will appear.

5.Click on the small preview window and Photoshop will take you back to that point in your history.

Conclusion:
Viewing your history in Photoshop is a great way to see what edits you’ve made to an image, or to go back to a previous version of an image. To view your history, simply open the History panel and click on the step in the list that you want to view. You can also hover over an edit in the list to see a preview of that edit.

PRO TIP: If you are working on a project in Photoshop and need to go back to a previous version, be aware that the “History” feature only goes back as far as the last time you saved your project. So, if you need to go back to a version that is older than your last save, you will need to use the “File > Open” menu option and select the appropriate file from your computer’s storage.
