If you’ve ever wanted to add a WooCommerce product that has multiple variations, such as color or size, you know how difficult it can be to set up. It’s not impossible, but it can be time-consuming, especially if you have a lot of products. Luckily, there’s a way to import variable products into WooCommerce quickly and easily.

To import a variable product, you’ll need to have a CSV file that contains all of the product information, including the different variations. Once you have your CSV file ready, you can follow these steps:

PRO TIP: If you are planning on importing a variable product into WooCommerce, there are a few things you need to know in advance. Variable products are more complex than simple products, and as such, there are a few more steps involved in the import process.

Additionally, because variable products have multiple variations, each with its own SKU, price, and stock status, you will need to have this information ready before beginning the import. If you do not have this information ready, the import process will be much more difficult and time-consuming.

  1. Log into your WooCommerce site and go to Products > Import. If you haven’t installed the WooCommerce Product CSV Import Suite yet, you’ll be prompted to do so. Follow the prompts and install the plugin.
  2. Once the plugin is installed, select Choose File and upload your CSV file. Make sure that the Delimiter is set to ,. If your CSV file uses a different delimiter, such as a tab character, select that character from the drop-down menu.
  3. Click Continue. On the next screen, you’ll see a preview of your products and their variations. If everything looks good, click Continue. If not, make any necessary changes to your CSV file and try again.
  4. On the next screen, map the columns in your CSV file to the appropriate fields in WooCommerce. For example, map the Product ID column to the "ID" field. When you’re finished mapping the fields, click Continue

Your products will now be imported into WooCommerce! You can go to “Products” >”All Products” to see all of your products and their variations.
