There are two ways to add video to your Squarespace site. You can either upload it directly, or embed it from another site like YouTube or Vimeo.
To upload a video, click the button in the Home Menu, then select “Upload Video.” This will open a window where you can drag and drop your video file, or click “Select Files” to choose a file from your computer. You can also add video from YouTube or Vimeo by clicking the “Add Video” button in the Home Menu and selecting “YouTube / Vimeo.”
Once you’ve added your video, you can click and drag it to rearrange it within your layout. To edit your video, hover over it and click the pencil icon that appears. From here, you can change the title, description, thumbnail image, and more.
First, make sure that the video you want to insert is hosted on a supported video platform. Squarespace supports videos from YouTube and Vimeo. If you try to insert a video from another platform, it may not work properly.
Second, keep the file size of your video in mind. While you can technically upload videos of any size, large videos can take a long time to load and may cause your page to load slowly. For best results, keep your video file sizes under 2GB.
Finally, remember that you can control how your video appears on your page by using the Video Block settings. For example, you can choose to have the video autoplay or loop when someone visits your page. You can also add captions or an overlay image to help explain what the video is about.
To style your video with text, you’ll first need to add a text block to your layout. Then, hover over the text block and click the “+” icon that appears.
This will open a window where you can select “Video” as the content type. Once you’ve done this, you can search for the video you want to add and click “Insert.”
Your video will now appear within your text block. You can use the formatting options (bold, italic, underline, etc.)
to style your text as desired.
Adding videos to your Squarespace site is a great way to engage visitors and add visual interest to your pages. By uploading videos directly or embedding them from YouTube or Vimeo, you can easily add videos to any layout. And by adding videos within text blocks, you can further customize your site and control how visitors experience your content.
