One of the most common questions Photoshop users have is how to insert text into their image. There are a few different ways to do this, and the method you use will depend on what you want to achieve.
If you want to simply add some text to an image, the easiest way is to use the Type tool. This can be found in the Tools palette, or by pressing T on your keyboard.
With the Type tool selected, click anywhere on your image to create a new text layer. A text cursor will appear, and you can simply start typing away.
If you want to be more precise with your text placement, you can use the Type mask tool. This works in a similar way to the regular Type tool, but instead of creating a new text layer, it allows you to draw a path for your text to follow.
To use the Type mask tool, select it from the Tools palette, or press Shift+T on your keyboard until it is selected. Then click and drag to draw a path on your image. Once you release the mouse button, a text cursor will appear and you can type away.
The final way to insert text into an image is by using a clipping mask. This is useful if you want to place text over an existing layer, such as a photo.
To create a clipping mask, simply place your text layer above the layer you want it to be clipped to in the Layers palette. Then hold down Alt (Windows) or Option (Mac) and click between the two layers. This will create a clipping mask and your text will now be visible only in the area of the layer below it.
So there you have three different ways to insert text into an image in Photoshop. Experiment with each method to see which one works best for you and your project.
