Last updated on January 7, 2023 @ 7:22 pm

Linking to a specific part of a page, also known as an anchor, can be useful if you have a long page and want to direct your readers to a specific section. For example, you could link to the section on your page that contains your contact information.

To add an anchor:

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

  1. Open your site in the Wix Editor.
  2. Click on the Add icon + from the left sidebar and choose More from the pop-up menu.
  3. Click on the Anchor option.
  4. Click somewhere on your page to add the anchor. A small anchor icon will appear to indicate that it’s been added.

To link to the anchor:

  1. Select the text or object you want to turn into a link.
  2. Click the Link icon in the toolbar.
  3. In the pop-up window, click on Page in this site and choose where you want to link to from the list of pages and anchors on your site.
  4. Click Apply.

Note: If you don’t see the page you’re looking for, make sure you clicked on Page in this site and not External URL.

PRO TIP: If you are planning on linking to a specific part of a page on Wix, it is important to be aware that Wix does not currently support this feature. Any links that are created will simply link to the top of the page. This could cause confusion for your visitors, so it is important to make sure that you clearly label any links that you create.

Linking to a Specific Part of Another Page:

  • In the pop-up window, click on Page in this site and choose where you want to link to from the list of pages and anchors on your site.png” alt=”Link to page”

Note: If you don’t see the page you’re looking for, make sure you clicked on Page in this site and not External URL.

Linking Within The Same Page:

  • In order to link within the same page, first add an anchor as described above.

Linking To An External Page:

In order to link another page, first find out what URL (web address) that page has. Then, follow these instructions:

  • In the Wix editor, click on the text or image that you want to use as the link.
  • In the top menu, click on the “Link” icon (it looks like a chain link).
  • In the link dialog box that appears, enter the URL of the page you want to link to in the “Link” field.
  • If you want to open the link in a new tab, check the “Open in new tab” checkbox.
  • Click “Apply” to apply the link to your text or image.
  • Save your changes and publish your website to make the link live.

Conclusion:

Linking allows readers to move around a long article without having scroll through all of the content. It is helpful for navigation purposes and can be done by adding an anchor which is then linked using text or images.
