A grid is a great way to keep your elements in check and help with the overall layout of your design. Photoshop has a few different ways that you can create a grid, but in this quick tip we’ll focus on creating a 1 inch grid.

This can be done by creating a new document and then going to View > Show > Grid.

Once you have the grid showing, you can adjust the Gridline Every setting to 1 inch. You can also uncheck the Gridlines box if you want to turn off the lines and just have the dots.

If you want to change the color of the grid, you can go to Edit > Preferences > Guides, Grid & Slices. Here you can choose from a few different colors or even make your own custom color. Once you’ve made your changes, click OK.

Now that you know how to create a basic 1 inch grid in Photoshop, experiment with different document sizes and number of divisions to see what works best for your needs. And don’t forget, you can always save your custom settings as a preset for future use.
