How Do I Make a Before and After Picture in Photoshop?

Last updated on September 23, 2022 @ 9:17 pm

Photoshop is a very versatile program that can be used for many different things. One of those things is creating before and after pictures. This can be useful for showing the progress of a project, or for comparing two different versions of an image.

To create a before and after picture in Photoshop, you will need two images that you want to compare. The images can be of anything, but they should be similar enough that the comparison is meaningful.

Once you have your two images, open them in Photoshop side by side. If they are not the same size, you will need to resize one of them so that they are both the same width.

Next, add a layer mask to one of the images. A layer mask is a black and white image that is used to hide or reveal parts of a layer. To add a layer mask, click on the “Add Layer Mask” button at the bottom of the Layers panel.

PRO TIP: This article contains instructions on how to make a before and after picture in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that these instructions are for an older version of Photoshop, and may not work with the most recent version. Additionally, it is important to be aware that making a before and after picture in Photoshop can be time consuming, and may require some practice before getting the desired results.

With the layer mask selected, use the Brush tool to paint over the areas of the image that you want to reveal. The color you paint with doesn’t matter, as long as it is not black or white. When you are finished painting, your image should look something like this:

Now, select both layers and go to Edit > Auto-Align Layers. This will align the two images so that they match up perfectly.

Finally, go to Edit > Auto-Blend Layers. This will blend the two images together using the layer mask you created earlier. Photoshop will automatically create a seamless transition between the two images.

And there you have it! A before and after picture created in Photoshop.
