How Do I Make a Book Cover in Canva?

Last updated on September 27, 2022 @ 11:18 am

Designing a book cover may seem like a daunting task, but with Canva’s user-friendly interface, you can create a professional cover in minutes. And the best part? It’s free!

Here’s how to make a book cover in Canva:

1. Sign up for a free account

To get started, visit canva.com and sign up for a free account. You’ll need to provide your name, email address and create a password.

2. Choose your book cover design

Once you’ve logged in, you’ll be taken to the main dashboard. Here, you can scroll through Canva’s library of templates and choose the one that best suits your book.

PRO TIP: Canva is a great way to make simple book covers, but there are a few things to keep in mind. First, your book cover should be high resolution – at least 300 dpi. Otherwise, it will look pixelated and low quality. Second, make sure you download the cover as a PNG or PDF; JPGs will not work correctly. Finally, remember that you can’t upload copyrighted images into Canva, so be sure to use only public domain or original photos.

3. Edit the text and images

Once you’ve selected a template, you can start customizing it to your liking. You can edit the text by clicking on the “Text” tab in the left-hand sidebar and adding your own headlines, subheadings and body copy.

To add or replace images, click on the “Images” tab.

4. Download or share your book cover

When you’re happy with your design, click the “Download” button in the top-right corner and select either “PNG” or “JPEG” from the drop-down menu. You can also share your book cover directly to social media or via email by clicking on the “Share” button.

Creating a book cover with Canva is easy, fast and free!
