Dash lines are commonly used to add emphasis or create visual interest in a design. You can create dashed lines in Photoshop using the Pen tool and a custom brush. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create a dashed line in Photoshop CC.
Step 1: Create a New Document
Open Photoshop and create a new document. The dimensions of your document will depend on the size of your project. For this tutorial, we’ll use a width of 1000 pixels and a height of 1000 pixels.
Step 2: Select the Pen Tool
Next, select the Pen tool from the Tools palette. You can also use the shortcut key “P” to select the Pen tool.
Step 3: Set the Stroke Color
Before you begin drawing your dashed line, you’ll need to set the stroke color. To do this, click on the “Stroke color” swatch in the Tools palette.
This will open the Color Picker dialog box. Choose the color you want to use for your dashed line and click “OK”.
-There are no instructions on how to do this in the Photoshop CC program.
-This could result in frustration and wasted time.
Step 4: Set the Stroke Width
Now that you’ve selected a color for your dashed line, you need to set the stroke width. To do this, click on the “Stroke width” field in the Tools palette and enter a value between 1 and 12 pixels. For this tutorial, we’ll use a stroke width of 3 pixels.
Step 5: Draw Your Dashed Line
Now you’re ready to draw your dashed line! Starting at one end of your document, click and drag your mouse to draw a curved or straight line.
As you’re drawing, press and hold down the “Alt” key (Windows) or “Option” key (Mac). This will cause Photoshop to draw dotted lines instead of solid lines.
