How Do I Make a Diagonal Pattern in Photoshop?

A diagonal pattern is a great way to add some visual interest to your designs, and it’s easy to do in Photoshop. Here’s how:

1. Create a new document in Photoshop. The size of your document will depend on how large you want your pattern to be. For this tutorial, I’m using a document size of 1000×1000 pixels.

2. Create a new layer and fill it with a solid color. I’m using black, but you can use any color you like.

3. Go to Edit > Transform > Shear and drag the top corner of the layer down to the bottom corner.
This will create a diagonal line across your layer.

4. Duplicate the layer and go to Edit > Transform > Flip Horizontal. This will create a mirror image of your original line.

5. Position the duplicate layer so that the lines are overlapping, as shown in the image below.

6. Select both layers and go to Edit > Merge Layers (or press Command + E on your keyboard). This will merge the two layers into one.

7. Go to Edit > Define Pattern, give your pattern a name, and click OK.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you can easily create a diagonal pattern that is too perfect and looks like a repeating background image. When this happens, your image will look fake and amateurish. To avoid this, be sure to use a variety of different brush sizes and opacities when creating your diagonal pattern. This will give your image more depth and make it look more realistic.
