How Do I Make a Product Not Purchasable WooCommerce?

Last updated on January 23, 2023 @ 12:33 pm

It’s pretty simple, really. You just need to go to WooCommerce->Settings, select the Tab that corresponds to the type of product you’re selling, and then check the ‘Exclude from Reports’ and ‘Exclude from Catalog’ checkboxes. That’s it!

There are a few things to keep in mind when doing this:

  • The ‘Exclude from Reports’ checkbox will hide the product from your sales reports. This is useful if you’re selling a product that is not for sale (e.g. an event ticket) or if you want to keep track of inventory without including sales of the product in your reports.

  • The ‘Exclude from Catalog’ checkbox will hide the product from your shop page and search results.

This is useful if you’re selling a product that is not for sale (e. an event ticket) or if you want to keep track of inventory without displaying the product on your site.

PRO TIP: If you are considering making a product not purchasable in WooCommerce, please be aware that this could have unintended consequences. For example, if you make a product not purchasable and then try to add it to a cart, the cart may become unusable. Additionally, if you make a product not purchasable and then change your mind, you will need to edit the product’s settings in order to make it purchasable again.
  • You can still purchase the product if you know the direct URL. If you want to completely prevent someone from purchasing a product, you’ll need to use a plugin like WooCommerce Product Restrictions

Conclusion:

In order to make a product not purchasable in WooCommerce, simply go to WooCommerce->Settings and select the tab that corresponds to the type of product you’re selling. Once there, check both the ‘Exclude from Reports’ and ‘Exclude from Catalog’ checkboxes.

That’s all there is to it! However, it’s worth noting that this will only hide the product from your shop page and search results – users can still purchase the product if they know the direct URL.
