In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create a shadow brush in Photoshop. We’ll start by creating a new layer and filling it with black.

Next, we’ll use the Brush tool to create a shadow brush. Finally, we’ll add a layer mask and use it to apply the shadow brush to our image.

First, open your image in Photoshop. Next, create a new layer and fill it with black.

To do this, click on the “Create a new layer” icon in the Layers panel. Then, click on the “Fill” icon in the toolbar and select “Black” from the drop-down menu.

Now that our layer is filled with black, we can create our shadow brush. To do this, select the Brush tool from the toolbar. Then, click on the “Brush” icon in the Options bar and select a soft-edged brush from the drop-down menu.

Once you’ve selected your brush, click on the “Opacity” slider in the Options bar and lower it to around 50%. This will make our shadow brush more transparent and easier to work with.

PRO TIP: This Photoshop tutorial will show you how to create a custom brush that you can use to create realistic shadows. This is a great way to add depth and realism to your images, but it’s important to be aware that this technique can also be used to create fake shadows. Be sure to check the source of any shadows you see in Photoshop, and be wary of using this technique for creating shadows in photos that will be used for things like legal documents or other important purposes.

Now that our brush is ready, we can start painting our shadow. To do this, simply click and drag your mouse over the areas of your image that you want to add shadows to. As you paint, you’ll notice that the shadows become more pronounced the closer you are to objects.

When you’re happy with the shadows you’ve added, go to the Layers panel and click on the “Add Layer Mask” icon. This will add a mask to our layer, which will allow us to control where our shadows appear.

To paint our shadows onto our image, simply select the Brush tool again and lower the Opacity slider back down to 100%. Then, click and drag your mouse over the areas of your image that you want to apply shadows to.

Conclusion:

Now that we know how to create a shadow brush in Photoshop, we can use it to add realistic shadows to our images. By controlling where our shadows appear using a layer mask, we can create truly realistic results.
