How Do I Make an Image a Dot in Photoshop?

Dots are a great way to add visual interest to an image, and they’re relatively easy to create in Photoshop. To create a dot, you’ll need to use the Ellipse Tool, which is located in the Tools palette.

First, make sure that the foreground color is set to black. Then, select the Ellipse Tool and click and drag on the image to create a circle.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you can end up with a very small image.

To make the circle into a perfect dot, hold down the Shift key while you’re dragging. When you release the mouse button, you should have a perfect circle.

To turn this circle into a dot, go to Edit > Define brush preset. This will bring up the Brush Name dialog box.

Enter a name for your brush and click OK. Now, go to Edit > Stroke path. In the Stroke Path dialog box, select Brush from the drop-down menu and make sure that Simulate Pressure is not checked. Click OK and your circle will be turned into a black dot.
