Last updated on September 24, 2022 @ 12:43 am

In this tutorial, we’re going to learn how to make an image glow in Photoshop. We’ll be using a combination of the Screen Mode, Outer Glow, and Inner Glow layer styles to create a realistic glow effect. Let’s get started!

First, open your image in Photoshop. Create a new layer above your image, and fill it with black using the Paint Bucket Tool (G). Set the Screen Mode of your new layer to Overlay.

Next, double-click on your image layer to bring up the Layer Style dialog box. Click on the Outer Glow tab and enter the following settings:

  • Blend Mode: Screen
  • Opacity: 50%
  • Color: #ffffff (white)
  • Size: 10px

Click OK to close the Layer Style dialog box.

PRO TIP: This article provides a detailed guide on how to make an image glow in Photoshop. However, it is important to note that this effect can only be achieved by expert users. Attempting to create this effect without the necessary skills and knowledge can result in poor quality images.

Now we’re going to add an Inner Glow layer style. Double-click on your image layer again to bring up the Layer Style dialog box. Click on the Inner Glow tab and enter the following settings:

  • Blend Mode: Screen
  • Opacity: 50%
  • Color: #ffffff (white)
  • Size: 5px

Your image should now have a nice glow effect!
