How Do I Make My UpWork Private?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:07 pm

When you first join UpWork, your profile is public by default. This means that anyone can see your profile, including your photo, work history, reviews, and other information. If you’d prefer to keep your profile private, you can do so by following these steps:

First, log into your account and click on the “Settings” tab at the top of the page. Then, click on the “Profile Settings” option in the left sidebar. On the next page, scroll down to the “Profile Visibility” section and select the “Private” option.

PRO TIP: If you are considering making your Upwork profile private, please be aware that this will severely limit your visibility and opportunities on the site. Your profile will only be viewable by clients with whom you have already worked, and you will not be able to search for or apply to new projects. In addition, your earnings will no longer be publicly visible on your profile. We strongly advise against making your profile private unless absolutely necessary.

Once you’ve done this, only people who have been invited by you or an UpWork staff member will be able to see your profile. If someone tries to view your profile who isn’t authorized, they’ll only see a message saying that it’s private.

You can change your profile visibility back to public at any time by following the same steps and selecting the “Public” option instead.

Conclusion:

Making your UpWork profile private is a quick and easy process that can be completed in just a few steps. Doing so will ensure that only those who have been invited by you or an UpWork staff member will be able to see your profile information. You can change your profile visibility back to public at any time if you later decide that you want to make it accessible to everyone again.
