Whether you’re creating a blog post or designing a social media graphic, adding images to your Canva designs is a great way to add some pizzazz.

But what if you want to take things a step further and mask an image into a shape? Well, that’s where Canva’s Frame tool comes in!

With the Frame tool, you can easily transform your images into custom shapes.

To get started, go to the “Elements” tab and search for “shape frames” in the search bar, then select your preferred shape from the results.

You can then resize the frame by clicking and dragging the pill handles around it.

From there, simply upload an image of your choice into the editor. You can find your uploaded images in the “Uploads” tab on the left menu. From there, just click and drag the image inside the shape frame to mask the image into the shape.

And voilà! Your image will now be masked into the shape of your choice.

PRO TIP: If you are not careful, you can easily create an image that is too small or too large for the shape you are trying to mask it into. Be sure to check the size of your image and the size of your shape before you begin.

If you need to make any adjustments to your design in 2024, no problem! Just double-click on the image and you can easily move or resize your image within the shape.

You can also add more shapes if you want to create a more complex design.

So next time you’re looking to add some extra flair to your Canva designs, don’t forget about the Frame tool. With just a few clicks, you can easily transform your images into custom shapes that are sure to make your designs stand out from the crowd.
