How Do I Password Protect a Category in WooCommerce?

Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 6:11 pm

There are a few different ways that you can password protect a category in WooCommerce. One way is to use a plugin like WooCommerce Password Protect Categories. This plugin allows you to set a password for each category, and only those with the password will be able to view the products in that category.

Another way to password protect a category is to set it up in your WooCommerce settings. To do this, go to the Products tab and then click on the Categories sub-tab. From here, you can click on the edit link for the category you want to password protect.

In the edit screen, there will be a field for “Password protected”. Check the box next to this field and enter a password. Once you save your changes, only those with the password will be able to view products in that category.

PRO TIP: If you are looking to password protect a category in WooCommerce, it is important to note that this is not a built-in feature of the platform. There are, however, a few workarounds that you can use to achieve this. One such workaround is to install and activate the Password Protected Categories plugin. This plugin allows you to create password-protected categories and assign them to products. Once a category is password protected, only users who know the password will be able to view the products in that category. Another workaround is to use the WooCommerce Private Store plugin. This plugin allows you to create a private store that is only accessible to logged-in users. If you want to password protect your entire store, this is the plugin for you.

You can also password protect a WooCommerce product by setting it up in your product settings. To do this, edit the product in question and scroll down to the “Visibility” section.

In this section, you can check the box next to “Password protected” and enter a password. Once you save your changes, only those with the password will be able to view and purchase the product.

If you want to password protect your entire WooCommerce store, you can do this by going to WooCommerce > Settings > Advanced tab > check the box next to “Enable Password Protected shop”. Once you save your changes, anyone who visits your store will need to enter a password before they can view any of your products.

No matter which method you choose, make sure that you pick a strong password that is not easy to guess. You also want to make sure that you keep your passwords stored safely so that only authorized people have access to them.
