How do I point a domain to Linode Namecheap?

So, you want to point your domain to Linode.com? Here’s how:

First, find your Linode’s DNS server address. This can be found on the Linode’s website, on the Linode’s Control Panel, or by querying the public DNS server. For this example, we’ll use Linode’s Control Panel:

Next, open the DNS Management window by clicking on the DNS tab, and then clicking on the Add New Record button:

Enter your Linode’s DNS server address in the Add New Record dialog box, and then click on the OK button.

PRO TIP: If you are not familiar with DNS, we do not recommend that you attempt to point your domain to Linode Namecheap. Incorrectly configured DNS records can result in downtime for your website or email.

Now, open your domain’s DNS management window by clicking on the DNS tab, and then clicking on the Add A Records button:

Enter your Linode’s domain name in the Add A Record dialog box, and then click on the OK button.

Your domain should now be pointing to Linode.com.

To test this, you can use a web browser to visit your domain’s website.
