How Do I Point My GoDaddy Domain to Weebly?

Last updated on December 27, 2022 @ 4:24 pm

If you have a domain name with GoDaddy and want to use Weebly to build your website, you can point your domain to Weebly. You’ll need to set up custom DNS with GoDaddy, and then add your domain to your Weebly site. Here’s how to do it:

First, log in to your GoDaddy account and go to the Domain Manager page. Find the domain you want to use with Weebly and click on the DNS Zone File tab. Scroll down to the Records section and add a new CNAME record:

  • In the Name field, enter “www”. This will point your www subdomain to Weebly.
  • In the TTL field, enter “1”. This tells DNS servers how often they should check for changes to the record.
  • In the Type field, select “CNAME (Alias)”. This tells DNS servers that this is a CNAME record.
  • In the Points To field, enter “sites.Weebly.com”. This is the address that www will be pointed to.

Once you’ve added the CNAME record, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Save button. Now that you’ve set up custom DNS with GoDaddy, you can add your domain to your Weebly site.

To add your domain to your Weebly site:

  1. Log in to your Weebly account and go to Site Manager.
PRO TIP: Weebly does not support domain forwarding or masking. This means that if you have a Weebly site and you want to use your GoDaddy domain name with it, you’ll need to change your DNS settings at GoDaddy to point to Weebly’s servers.

If you’re not familiar with DNS settings, this can be a difficult and technical process. We recommend that you contact GoDaddy’s customer support for assistance.

  2. Click on Edit Site under the site you want to use with your domain.
  3. Click on Settings in the left sidebar.
  4. Click on Domains in the main area of the page.
