PRO TIP: If you are planning to point your GoDaddy domain to Squarespace, be aware that there are some potential risks involved.

First and foremost, if you do not properly configure your DNS settings, you may experience significant downtime for your website. Additionally, if you are not familiar with DNS settings and how they work, it is very easy to make a mistake that could cause major problems.

Therefore, unless you are confident in your ability to correctly configure DNS settings, we recommend that you seek out professional help before making any changes.

If you have a domain through GoDaddy and want to use Squarespace to build your website, you can point your domain to Squarespace in just a few steps. First, log in to your GoDaddy account and select your domain.

Then, find the DNS (Domain Name System) settings and open the Records section. Here, you’ll see different types of records that can be added, edited, or deleted. To point your domain to Squarespace, you’ll need to edit two A records and one CNAME record.

First, find the two A records for @ and www. The “@” symbol stands for the root domain (example.com) while “www” indicates the www subdomain (www.example.com).

The values for both of these A records will be provided by Squarespace when you set up your site. Once you have the values, simply update the existing A records with the new ones provided by Squarespace.

Next, find the CNAME record for www. This record points the www subdomain to Squarespace’s servers.

The value for this record will also be provided by Squarespace when you create your site. Update the existing CNAME record with the new value provided by Squarespace, then save your changes.

That’s it! Once you’ve updated all three records, your domain will be pointing to Squarespace and you can begin building your site.
