How Do I Point My Wix Site to Another Domain?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:29 am

If you have a Wix site and you want to move it to another domain, there are a few steps you need to follow. First, you need to log into your Wix account and go to the “My Domains” page.

From there, you will see a list of all the domains you have registered with Wix. Click on the domain you want to move, and then click on the ” DNS ” tab.

GREAT NEWS:

Exciting update! We've collaborated with Wix to offer WBI users with a free plan for all website creation needs - Explore the details here.

PRO TIP: If you are considering pointing your Wix site to another domain, be aware that this could have negative consequences for your site’s search engine optimization (SEO). Your Wix site’s search engine ranking could drop, and you could lose traffic to your site.

Next, you need to scroll down to the “Custom Domain” section and click on the “Add new record” button. In the “Name” field, enter “@” (without the quotes).

In the “TTL” field, enter “3600”. In the “Type” field, select “A”. In the “Address” field, enter the IP address of your new server (you can get this from your hosting provider).

Once you have added the new DNS record, click on the “Save” button. Now all you need to do is wait for the DNS changes to propagate (this can take up to 48 hours). Once they have propagated, your Wix site will be accessible from your new domain!
