Last updated on October 1, 2022 @ 1:54 pm

When a customer places an order on your WooCommerce store, they go through a process called “checkout.” During checkout, the customer enters their shipping and billing information, and chooses a shipping method and payment method. Once the order is placed, it’s up to you to process it.

In this article, we’ll cover everything you need to know about processing WooCommerce orders. We’ll walk you through the different statuses an order can have, how to change an order’s status, what each status means, and when you should use each one.

WooCommerce Order Statuses

An order in WooCommerce can have one of several statuses:

PRO TIP: If you are processing a WooCommerce order, please be aware that there are a few things you need to do in order to ensure that the order is processed correctly. First, you will need to make sure that you have the correct items in your shopping cart. Next, you will need to select the correct shipping method for the items in your cart. Finally, you will need to enter the correct billing information for the order. Please double check all of this information before you submit the order.
  • Pending: Payment is pending.
  • Failed: Payment failed or was declined (unpaid).
  • On Hold: Awaiting payment – stock is reduced, but you need to confirm payment.
  • Processing: Payment received and stock has been reduced – awaiting fulfillment.
  • Completed: Order fulfilled and complete – no further changes can be made.
  • Cancelled: Cancelled by an admin or the customer – no further changes can be made.
  • Refunded: Refunded by an admin – no further changes can be made.

.

The most important thing to remember when processing orders is that you need to keep track of each order’s status. Depending on the status, you’ll need to take different actions.

For example, if an order is on hold, you’ll need to confirm payment before fulfilling the order. If an order is refunded, you won’t be able to make any changes to it.
