If you’re working on a new website, or making changes to an existing one, you may want to put your Squarespace site into “under construction” mode. This allows you to work on your site without publishing it live for everyone to see.

Follow the steps below to learn how to put your Squarespace website under construction.

    1. Log in to your Squarespace account and go to your site’s dashboard.

    2. In the Home Menu, click Pages.

    3. Click the + icon next to Main Navigation and select Add Page.

    4. Select Blank Page from the page type options.

    5. Enter Under Construction in the page title field and click Add.

    6. On the newly created Under Construction page, click the gear icon in the upper-right corner and select Change Page Type.

    7. Select Under Construction from the page type options and click Save.

Your Squarespace website is now under construction!

When you’re ready to publish your site, simply go back to the Pages panel in your dashboard and delete the Under Construction page (or unpublish it, if you want to keep it around).

PRO TIP: If you are considering putting your Squarespace website under construction, there are a few things you should be aware of. First, your website will not be accessible to anyone during the construction period. Second, you will need to have a plan for how you want your website to look when it is finished. Third, you will need to make sure that all of your content is ready before you put your website under construction. fourth, you may want to consider using aComing Soon page to let visitors know that your website is under construction.
