How Do I Redirect a Domain on Wix?

Last updated on September 30, 2022 @ 11:13 pm

There are a few different ways that you can redirect a domain on Wix. You can either use the Wix Domain Manager, or you can use an external DNS service.

If you want to use the Wix Domain Manager, the first thing you need to do is log in to your Wix account. Once you’re logged in, click on “My Domains” in the left sidebar.

Then, click on the domain that you want to redirect. In the domain settings page, scroll down to the “Redirects” section and click on the “Add Redirect” button.

In the “From” field, enter the URL that you want to redirect. In the “To” field, enter the URL that you want to redirect to. Then, select whether you want to redirect with or without www.

Finally, click on the “Add” button to save your redirect.

PRO TIP: Please be aware that redirecting a domain on Wix can result in loss of data and/or website functionality. Proceed with caution and only do so if you are confident in your ability to do so.

If you want to use an external DNS service, the first thing you need to do is log in to your Wix account and go to the “My Domains” page.

Then, click on the domain that you want to redirect and select “DNS Settings” from the drop-down menu.

Scroll down to the “Custom Records” section and click on the “Add Record” button. In the “Name” field, enter @ or leave it blank.

In the “TTL” field, select 1 Hour. In the “Type” field, select CNAME (Alias).

In the “Hostname” field, enter www . In the “Points To” field, enter @ . Finally, click on the “Save Changes” button.

You can also add an A record if you want to redirect your root domain (without www). To do this, simply repeat the steps above but leave the “Name” field blank and enter @ in the “Hostname” field.
